Why I Wrote Silent Courage: An Introvert’s Authentic Journey With Hearing Loss

A word after a word after a word is power. –Margaret Atwood

Silent Courage: An Introvert’s Authentic Journey with Hearing Loss is a passion project born from my personal experience as an introvert with hearing loss.. Living with hearing loss is undeniably challenging, but as an introvert, these challenges often feel magnified. In this book, I explore the intersection of introversion and hearing loss, highlighting how these aspects of identity intertwine.

A Book for Every Introvert with Hearing Loss

This unique work blends memoir and self-help. It offers facts about hearing loss, introversion, and heartfelt reflections from my life. Through Silent Courage, I hope to reassure you that you are not alone—many others share similar struggles.

Beyond sharing my journey, I aim to provide a resource you can turn to, whether you’re advocating for yourself, educating others about introversion and hearing loss, or seeking understanding and support.

Writing Silent Courage was a deeply introspective journey. It allowed me to embrace my identity as an introvert with hearing loss and to celebrate the victories—big and small—that have shaped me along the way.

I uncovered invaluable knowledge about hearing and hearing loss. For instance, I learned that damage to the hearing cells in the inner ear, which cannot regenerate, caused my permanent sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL).

Through this book, I hope to share knowledge and help you appreciate the gift of hearing, even if it comes through artificial means. I want you to feel empowered to stand tall and declare:

“I am [NAME], an introvert with hearing loss!”

Quiet Words that Linger.
