Lao Tzu

There are times when I need to remove my hearing aids—like when bathing, showering, or swimming, as they aren’t waterproof. I also remove them while sleeping since I don’t use permanent hearing aids (I explain the different types of hearing aids in my book Silent Courage: An Introvert’s Authentic Journey with Hearing Loss.) I often feel lonely and disconnected during these moments, enveloped in a silent world.

Though I rely on my hearing aids to live a quality life, there are times when they bring on noise fatigue.
